Museums to Visit in Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg may be best known for its rugged coastline, historic train, and charming small-town energy—but dig a little deeper, and you’ll find a rich tapestry of history and culture preserved within its local museums. Whether you're visiting for a weekend getaway or just passing through, these museums offer a unique glimpse into the soul of this coastal community.

1. Guest House Museum

343 N Main St

Right in the heart of downtown Fort Bragg sits the Guest House Museum, a historic Victorian home turned local treasure trove. Originally built in 1892 to house lumber company guests, it now tells the story of Fort Bragg’s logging, fishing, and early pioneer days. With exhibits featuring vintage photographs, antique tools, and rotating displays curated by the Fort Bragg-Mendocino Coast Historical Society, this is a must-see for history buffs.

2. Triangle Tattoo & Museum

356 N Main St # B

Quirky, bold, and entirely one-of-a-kind, the Triangle Tattoo & Museum is not your average museum stop. Founded by tattoo artists Madame Chinchilla and Mr. G in 1986, this museum offers a fascinating look into the history of tattoo culture worldwide. Housed upstairs in a charming historic building, it’s part art gallery, part cultural commentary, and fully unforgettable.

3. Sea Glass Museum

303 N Main St Ste F

Fort Bragg’s famous Glass Beach draws visitors from around the globe, and the International Sea Glass Museum offers the perfect follow-up to your shoreline stroll. Run by sea glass expert Captain Cass Forrington, the museum showcases thousands of pieces collected from local beaches and educates visitors about how sea glass forms—and why Fort Bragg has some of the world’s best.
